Ordering, Lead Times, and Shipping for Trade Buyers
Sign Cabinets Inc. builds wholesale sign cabinets, cabinet kits, push-through lettering signs, sign faces, and channel letters for sign companies and qualified trade buyers. This page explains the wholesale sign ordering process from quote acceptance through production, payment, pickup, delivery, and shipment.
- Production Scheduling Notice: Lead times are confirmed on the quote. The guidance below is for planning only and is not a guaranteed completion date. If you have dimensions, configuration details, artwork, and a delivery ZIP, start with a wholesale sign quote request so the team can review the project accurately.

ORDER COMMENCEMENT & VERIFICATION BOUNDARIES
WHEN AN ORDER ENTERS THE SCHEDULE
An order normally moves forward after the quote is accepted, required project details are resolved, and the deposit is paid unless account terms apply. Most projects require 50% down. Established repeat customers may have account terms, such as net 30, when already arranged with Sign Cabinets Inc.
01
QUOTE ACCEPTANCE & SCOPE FREEZE
Acceptance of quoted unit price, structural size, finish type (mill or RAL powder coat), and illumination specifications.
02
50% DEPOSIT OR ACCOUNT TERMS
Standard commercial deposit is settled online or via corporate check. Established trade partners proceed on established Net 30 terms.
03
FINAL SPEC RECHECK & OPTIONAL PROOF
Detailed review of vector artwork, hinge direction, mounting patterns, switch exits, and UL marking guidelines. Proofs sent when requested.
04
SHOP FLOOR QUEUE ASSIGNMENT
Aluminum extrusions, CNC sheet cutting, weld stations, LED benching, and crating are assigned calendar slots.
PLANNING GUIDELINES // FABRICATION BENCHMARKS
Typical Sign Cabinet Lead Time
A sign cabinet lead time depends on cabinet type and complexity. Current cabinet guidance is approximate:
Basic cabinet
Mill-finish or non-powder-coated cabinet.
About three weeks
Powder-coated cabinet
Powder-coated or somewhat more involved cabinet.
About four to five weeks
Complex cabinet work
More complex cabinet fabrication and project requirements.
About six to seven weeks
These ranges are planning guidelines only. Large quantities may require staged production or staggered delivery. Rush work is sometimes possible at a premium, but eligibility is reviewed case by case.
Channel Letter, Kit, and Face Timing
Channel-letter timing is confirmed with each quote because size, quantity, lighting type, mounting method, finish, artwork readiness, and current capacity affect the schedule.
The same applies to sign cabinet kits and components. Kits are raw aluminum pieces cut and mitered to project size for bolt-together or weld-together assembly. They do not include the sign face, pole or support structure, electrical components, final finish, field assembly, installation, or an SCI UL label. Kit timing is confirmed with the quote. Face orders are also scheduled project by project, with timing confirmed on the quote.
Payment Before Delivery or Shipment
Final payment is normally due COD for SCI delivery or before a long-distance shipment leaves the shop. Customers can use the Make a Payment page for deposits or final balances after an SCI quote has been accepted. Payment should include the company name, project or quote number, and payment amount.
Submitting a payment does not approve a new order by itself. Sign Cabinets Inc. must issue and accept the quote first. Applicable taxes, resale status, cancellation terms, and other commercial details are governed by the final quote and applicable terms.
REGIONAL TRANSIT & NATIONWIDE FREIGHT
Pickup, Delivery, and Shipping Options
Sign cabinet pickup is available at the Muskegon Heights shop when it fits the order and customer schedule. SCI also personally delivers within Michigan’s Lower Peninsula when practical.
Packaging Protocols by Transit Type
Large signs may be skidded or crated for freight. Local deliveries may be strapped to the SCI truck without the same full freight packaging. The packaging method depends on the product and delivery path.
Trade Buyer Receiving Responsibilities
Sign freight delivery requires planning at the receiving end. The customer or receiving party must have suitable unloading equipment (forklifts, loading dock, or crane truck). Receiving procedures and any damage-reporting instructions should be confirmed in the accepted quote or project terms.

HEAVY-DUTY CUSTOM TIMBER CRATING
COMMERCIAL FREIGHT PROTECTION
TRADE RESPONSIBILITY BOUNDARY
Responsibilities After the Product Leaves SCI
Sign Cabinets Inc. fabricates, wires eligible finished electrical products in-house, performs inspection checkpoints, powers up finished cabinets and channel letters before they leave the shop, and prepares the product for pickup, delivery, or shipment.
WHAT SIGN CABINETS INC. DELIVERS
- Precision CNC cutting, profile mitering, and certified welding
- In-house electrical component installation on illuminated assemblies
- Mandatory bench power-up testing and inspection prior to packing
- UL 48 labeling affixed on eligible finished sign cabinets and letters
- Secure freight crating or dedicated regional transport strapping
WHAT THE SIGN COMPANY / BUYER HANDLES

TECHNICAL TRADE INQUIRIES • SHOP FAQ
Ordering and Shipping FAQs
What information is needed before an order enters production?
SCI needs an accepted quote, final specifications, required artwork or drawings, finish choices, delivery information, and the required deposit unless account terms apply. Missing details can delay the schedule.
How long does a sign cabinet usually take to fabricate?
A basic mill-finish cabinet is often about three weeks. Powder-coated or more involved work is commonly about four to five weeks, and more complex cabinets may be about six to seven weeks. Final timing is confirmed by quote.
Are channel-letter and kit lead times the same as cabinet lead times?
Not necessarily. Channel letter lead time and kit timing are confirmed project by project because size, quantity, finish, artwork, components, and shop capacity can change the schedule.
When is final payment due?
Final payment is normally due COD on SCI delivery or before a long-distance shipment leaves the shop, unless established account terms apply.
How are large signs packaged for shipment?
Large signs may be skidded or crated for freight. Packaging is selected based on the product, route, and handling needs.
Who handles unloading, installation, permitting, and field electrical hookup?
The customer or qualified installer is responsible for unloading, installation, permitting, site engineering, local code compliance, and field electrical hookup unless a written exception applies.
COMMENCE Deadline
Plan the Order Before the Deadline
The clearest way to protect timing is to send complete specifications early. If you are comparing cabinet construction, lead time, and shipping method, review the product details for cabinet signs or wholesale channel letters, then submit the quote request with files and destination details.
